SPORTING KC WEEKLY SCHEDULE: OCT. 14-20, 2013
TOPEKA, KS (October 24, 2013) - Sporting Kansas City will host D.C. United at 7 p.m. CT on Friday at Sporting Park in the team's regular season home finale. The match will air nationally live on the NBC Sports Network and locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB. A limited number of tickets are still available, including standing room only tickets, to purchase online at Ticketmaster.com. The first 10,000 fans inside Sporting Park will receive a complimentary tote bag courtesy of Friday's match sponsor UMKC.



Friday's match will see former KC manager Bob Gansler inducted into the inaugural class of Sporting Legends at halftime. Gansler will be available to media at 6:45 p.m. CT in the press box at Sporting Park. The team will also participate in Major League Soccer's Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment.



Leading up to the match, Sporting Kansas City has launched Fan Appreciation Week with daily giveaways and exclusive opportunities for supporters to engage with players and coaches. Sporting Kansas City will train at 10 a.m. CT today thru Thursday at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park (6310 Lewis Rd.) in Kansas City, Mo. All practices are open to the media, unless noted otherwise, during the 2013 season. The team's weekly press conference will take place at 12 p.m. CT on Thursday at the Sporting Club Training Center with Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes, recently inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, and a Sporting KC player. All media are encouraged to attend for video, photo and interview opportunities.



On Tuesday, The Sporting KC Show will air from 6-7 p.m. CT on Sports Radio 810 WHB with hosts Callum Williams, Andy Edwards and Carter Augustine discussing all the latest Sporting Kansas City and Major League Soccer developments. Fans are encouraged to call 913-3-810-810 to join the discussion.



The U.S. Men's National Team will conclude the final round of FIFA World Cup Qualifying at 8:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Panama live on beIN SPORT. Sporting KC midfielder Graham Zusi, who scored the game-winning goal in the United States' 2-0 victory over Jamaica at Sporting Park on Friday, will be available for head coach Jurgen Klinsmann tomorrow night.



Wednesday is the final day to vote for the annual Sporting KC team awards. Voting is open online at SportingKC.com/awards thru 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday in the following five categories: Most Valuable Player, presented by Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City; Goal of the Year, presented by Power Partners; Offensive Player of the Year, presented by Providence Medical Center; Defensive Player of the Year, presented by Ivy Funds; and Newcomer of the Year, presented by UMB Bank.



The awards will be announced on Saturday in a special event at Sporting Park. Pitch Black , presented by Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City, will welcome fans alongside Sporting Kansas City players and coaches for a night of drinks, dining and live entertainment on the field at Sporting Park from 7-11 p.m. CT on Saturday. Tickets are available for $100 with proceeds benefiting The Victory Project in its mission to help kids in Kansas City who have cancer.



On Sunday, U.S. MNT and Sporting KC teammates Matt Besler and Graham Zusi will make a special appearance at Kansas Sampler Oak Park (9750 Quivira Road) in Lenexa, Kan. to sign autographs and meet fans from 2-3:30 p.m. CT. Besler started and played the full 90 minutes on Friday in the United States' 2-0 victory over Jamaica at Sporting Park.
