Founded by Adolphus Busch who came from Germany in 1857, determined to make his dreams come true, he landed in St. Louis, Missouri and started at a brewing supply company. There, Busch met Eberhard Anheuser who owned what was then known as E. Anheuser & Company. In 1875 Busch was named secretary-treasurer of the company and in 1879, the company’s name was officially changed to Anheuser-Busch. And the rest is history! But one fun fact: being in such a competitive market, Adolphus began pasteurizing his beer before America pasteurized milk!
