Michiganders are beer drinkers. Always have been. Ever since Christoph Kusterer opened City Brewery in Grand Rapids, we’ve been downing lager, IPAs, stouts and ales brewed in our own backyards.
From Grand Rapids to the Thumb’s Sebewaing, and Detroit to Mackinac, you’ll find craft beer has been in our blood for more than 180 years. At its peak, Michigan was home to 300+ brew houses. Unfortunately, a national momentary lapse of reason, known as Prohibition, shuttered many breweries. By the 1980s, local beer was all but extinct.
In the last 20 years, however, craft beer has made a resounding return to Michigan resurrecting many classic labels. This t-shirt celebrates our great beer heritage with four vintage labels from around the state. Wear it and raise a pint to our collective brewing history!
